February Newsletter

Welcome to our newsletter, its purpose is to give you a regular update of what we the contractors are getting up to with regards to the development of the new York Street Student Accommodations.  These newsletters are produced on a monthly basis to let you know what is going on and how it may affect you during the project.

Brief Overview Of The Project

The works involve the construction of an 11 storey building with a reinforced concrete frame and SFS cladding and glazed externals. The building will accommodate 307 studios with communal facilities and 3no. retail units at ground floor level.

Working Hours

The works on site will take place between the following hours:

• 7am to 6pm from Monday to Friday

• 7am to 1pm on Saturday

If any works are to take place outside the hours mentioned above, our site team will ensure to communicate it to anyone who may be affected by the works.

Project Status

We’ve now completed the concrete pour of 8 floor stabs, with the 9th floor to be completed shortly. We expect to be finished with the concrete pours of all floors by the end of the month, which should minimise the need of footpath closure in the upcoming months as we finish the project.  Internally, we have the partitions going up for the studios as well as associated M&E works.

Upcoming Works - Footpath Closure

It is expected that the footpath in front of our site on Frederick Street will continue to be closed for a few hours for one day every week to allow for concrete lorries to deliver materials for the concrete slab pour.

A Traffic Management Plan has been developed and will be implemented weekly on the day of the task to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles around our site.   See the following page for an overview map of the footpath / pedestrian diversion.

Community Liaison Board

A new Notice Board will be installed and displayed on our hoarding line as an additional way to communicate and display some more site related information to the community around us and the wider public. This will also allow us to share some of the Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives implemented on site.
